1950s Stratton of London Peacock Mirror Powder Compact
For sale is a splendid mirror powder compact by Stratton of London. The compact has the most beautiful enamel image on the top showing a peacock. The bottom of the compact is composed of a goldtone engine turned metal and is marked ‘Stratton England’. A marvelous hand bag accessory. Condition: Excellent.
Dimensions: 7.5cm x 7.5cm
Stratton powder compacts were designed and produced in Birmingham by Laughton & Sons Ltd. from 1923. Some of the earliest Stratton compacts were signed Stratnoid. Several of their factories were destroyed in the second World War but they were in production again by 1946. The peak of powder make up and the use of powder compacts was during the 1950s.
