English Rustic Refectory Table & William Mary Chair Set

English Rustic Refectory Table & William Mary Chair Set

You are viewing a delightful English oak refectory table with a matching set of 8 William and Mary chairs. I hope the photos do this stunning set some justice, it’s certainly more impressive in the flesh. If you are looking for that cosy, rustic, provincial farmhouse look then – this is it!

We appreciate it’s quite an initial outlay but then this set will last for generations hence making it a great heirloom and investment. This will only appreicate with age. As dining together whether with family and friends is perhaps the most important thing we can do as humans – why not do it in complete and utter style? Refectory tables were originally used by monks in their refectorys, hence the name.

You can imagine them drinking trappist ales in their flagons! The table is solid as an ox – chunky, wobble free, resiliant to everything a family can throw at it. We had a similar table when I grew up – it’s still there. The legs are hand turned and chunky. A top sits the large eating surface in true refectory style and this is 8 feet long – and you can see how it comfortably sits eight people. Then we have the set of 8 William and Mary style high back chairs. Two arms and six sides.

The William and Mary style is from the Tudor era in 17th Century England and again is perfect for those looking for the cosy, rustic, provincial farmhouse look – they also look great in the Great Hall of a castle! Again solid and sturdy, wobble free and very comfortable to sit in – perhaps made even more comfortable with some patterned tie down cushions – a great project for after the purchase so you can match it in with your colour scheme. The chairs are oak and match the table perfectly. They are also incredibly solid and chunky and will last for ever. We bought this set from a dealer in Debenham Suffolk, it is offered in great shape.

Eating together, whether with family and friends is perhaps the most important thing we can do, so why not do it in total style? We appreciate it is quite an intitial investment but this will last for generations making it a great heirloom and investment. These are hand crafted here in England to centuries old traditions – and will last for centuries. I had a similar set when growing up as a child in the family home – it’s still there! In an age of disposible, mass produced items that last a couple of years, why not invest in something that will last and last…?

Then of course we have the gorgeous oak refectory table which is a perfect match to the chairs. The table has been hand crafted from the finest oak and is solid and chunky with no wobbles. The legs are hand turned and very chunky linking the stretchers to the bottom.  The table is offered in very good condition and sits eight chairs more than comfortably. This set works for both kitchen dining or more formal dining.

We bought this set from a dealer in Diss, Norfolk. It’s offered in very good condition ready for home use right away.
