Our Hertfordshire antiques showroom is only 25 minutes north of London in the leafy Herts countryside. We are easily accessible by road and car. By car we are right near where the A1 meets the M25 just outside of Potters Bar – and down the road from the historic market town of St Albans. Via rail you can take a train from Kings Cross in Central London (20 minute journey) then we are a five minute cab right from Potters Bar station.
Canonbury Antiques have been in business since 1964 and we specialise in art deco furniture, classic English dining furniture, architectural antiques, bronzes, porcelain, continental antiques and all things interiors. We have a whole host of oak dining chairs suitable to match our range of refectory tables, including ladderback chairs, spindlebacks and Windsor chairs.
We also have a large range of classic farmhouse furniture – large oak refectory tables and as before we have various chairs to match including ladderback, spindleback, Windsor chairs and Mary Tudor chairs. The Canonbury Antiques Hertfordshire showroom is well located in the leafy area of Herts – but only 25 minutes north of London by train. Our large showroom / warehouse is packed to the rafters with goods and makes a pleasant way to spend the afternoon. We specialise in classic English dining furniture, art deco, bronze statues and large bronzes, Continental antiques, Asian and French porcelain, architectural goods and all things interiors.
The nearest station to the Canonbury Antiques Herts showroom is Potters Bar which is only 20 minutes north of Kings Cross station so is easily accessible from Central London. You can take a cab from the station or give us a call and we can pick you up.
We also have visitors from all over the world as Heathrow, Luton and Stanstead airports are all within 30 minutes of us. You can make a day out of it as we are also close to many points of interest including St Albans, an ancient market cathedral town with Roman ruins as well as nice shops and dining.
We originally had showrooms in London, including Notting Hill Gate and Church Street NW8 – but as the bricks and mortar side of the business slowed down we decided to up sticks and move to a larger premises closer to where we live. Of course being outside of London the rents are a lot lower so we can fit more of our goods into a larger space. Hence we work with many interior designers as they can find the right goods from our massive range of stock.
As I mentioned earlier we specialise in large dining sets – so we can mix and match various table and chair combinations. So if you want a large Victorian dining table in mahogany with a set of Chippendale chairs around it. Or a Regency pedestal dining table with matching William IV chairs then we are the right people. We also carry an extensive range of farmhouse furniture including lots of refectory tablesrefectory tables and oak kitchen chairs like Windsor chairs and spindlebacks. The Canonbury Antiques showroom is situated in leafy Hertfordshire just outside Potters Bar – right where the A1 meets the M25. It’s a large warehouse open to the public full of goodies from art deco to English dining furniture. Most people’s comment on how much like an Aladdin’s Cave it is as it’s packed the rafters with goodies.
We are only 25 minutes north of London so it’s conveniently located and we hence get visitors from all over the UK (and world). Near to major London airports (Heathrow, Luton, Stanstead) and well connected by rail.
The showroom is on two floors and we specialise in art deco furniture, English dining furniture, Continental antiques, French furniture, bronzes, architectural antiques, porcelain, oil paintings and interiors. Hertfordshire itself is a lovely place to visit – St Alban’s is just five minutes down the road, a lovely market town with Roman ruins and a gorgeous Cathedral, as well as good shopping. The surrounding country side is beautiful so it’s well worth making a day trip around it to visit some of the beautiful towns and scenery, or even if it’s just with a nice pub lunch.

We have been in business for over fifty years now (wow, time flies) starting off with various showrooms in London, including in Islington and on the famous Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill Gate, W11. We also had a gallery on Church Street in Marylebone. As the bricks and mortar trade backed off we decided to go 100% online and now sell to a global client base from our website – and this allowed us to move to larger premises in Hertfordshire near where we live which was great for our commuting time and overall quality of live. Of course being outside London allowed us to have more stock and increase our product range so we have a large range of goods in a much bigger space than we ever could have had in our London shops. We have a large range of various tables and chairs – particuarly Victorian extending tables in mahogany and Regency pedestal tables in walnut. Around these large diners you can have a whole host of different dining chair sets from our large range, including Chippendale, Regency, William IV, Trafalgar and Queen Anne chairs. Nothing beats trying out these dining sets in person for size and comfort.
