Classic French Rococo Ormolu Cherub Candelabras Candle

You are viewing an absolutely fab pair of French rococo ormolu candelabras with two cherubs each holding up the main branch. This pair just reek of quality – the casting is very intricate and I hope the photos do this some justice. Particularly on details like the leaves which have all the veins finely replicated in relief. Similarly the cherubs faces and all the fantastic details on the bases.

Can you imagine how these would look set up with candles in them displayed in your home? They are museum quality and we were lucky enough to find them one morning whilst on a buying trip in Les Puces flea market in Paris.

A great investment, this pair are offered in very good condition and we will ship to anywhere in the world. These are free from any damage and we are expecting a lot of interest.

PAIR CLASSICAL FRENCH COLUMN LAMP BASES LAMPS LIGHTS

PAIR CLASSICAL FRENCH COLUMN LAMP BASES LAMPS LIGHTS

You are viewing a gorgeous pair of French black porcelain lamp bases with ormolu fittings. The lamps are in the shape of a pair of classical Greek doric columns and these would be a sumptous, enriching addition to any interiors scheme. The bases come prewired so these would be easy to hook up – all you would need is a bulb and a matching lamp shade. Currently they are configured for the UK market, although it would be easy to adapt using a simple adaptor available from any hardware store.

To the top the lamps have the ormolu column pinnacle and these sit on the classical squared bases with intricate designs on each of the four walls. Around the main columns there is a draped ormolu leaf design, as though this has creeped up. I only hope the photos go some way in illustrating the beauty of this pair and do the craftmanship some justice.

They are both offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away and we are expecting a lot of interest so get your bids in early. These really are an interior designers dream.

You are viewing a gorgeous Italian bronze casting of Mercury – the messenger of the Gods in Roman mythology. The piece stands in at 4.5 feet tall so he’s quite a large statue – a perfect collection to any interior.

He stands on the face of a head and this is obviously relevant to the myth. The patina is wonderful and this is offered in great shape ready for home dispaly right away.

Mercury (mythology), in Roman mythology, messenger of the gods, the son of the god Jupiter and of Maia, the daughter of the Titan Atlas. Mercury was also the god of merchants and of trading and shared many of the attributes of the Greek god Hermes. The worship of Mercury was introduced into Rome in 495 bc when a temple was dedicated to him near the Circus Maximus. His festival was celebrated on May 15.

He was well known as the “Conductor of Souls” and was qualified to control the souls of the dead and guide them to Hades, the underworld. He is depicted in mythological art wearing a broad-beamed hat and the sandals of a traveler, with wings attached to both, and his magic wand in his hand.

You are viewing a gorgeous French bronze of a Roman Gladiator by the French sculpturist Albert Carrier (1824-1887).  I hope the photos do this stunning piece some justice, it’s certainly better in the flesh and would make for a great addition to any home interiors scheme.

The quality to the casting is superb. Check out details like the folds in his drape, the plummage and the texture to his dress. The patina is also wonderful and this sits on a marble base. The artist has really caught the poise and beauty of the soldiers pose with great skill.

We bought this from a dealer in Les Halles, Paris whilst on a recent French buying trip and he is offered in very good condition. We will ship to anywhere in the world.

Bronze Roman Gladiator Warrior Signed Gardet

Bronze Roman Gladiator Warrior Signed Gardet

You are viewing a bronze study depicting what is believed to be a Roman foot soldier. This superb Sculpture is signed by Georges Gardet (1863 – 1939) who was born in Paris, France on October 11th 1863. He was a highly talented sculptor whose early studies were with his sculptor father, Joseph, and Aime Millet.  He was influenced early in his career by the works of Emmanuel Fremiet whom Gardet studied under at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.  Big game animals fascinated Gardet and his detailed treatment of these subjects is reflected in this interest. His fascination with animals was not limited to just the large wild ones as he did a number of small works of domestic animals and even a few private commissions of “pets” also.  Occasional glimpses of the late Barye’s influence are found in the treatment of his combat groups as can be seen in this bronze.

The sculpture for sale here is of a warrior with shield and sword and traditional armour, apparently Gardet did a series of these in 1922 for an exhibition. A truly superb piece for the decorator dealer or discerning individual. Good luck!

Pr 9 ft Bronze Maiden Candelabras Lamps Lights

You are viewing a pair of stunning maiden female bronze candelabras which are almost nine foot tall. They really are in impressive pair and it is difficult to know where to start when describing them such is the detail and levels of workmanship to these works of art.

The three maidens stand back to back around the central column. Cherubs sit on the base. The glass is white frosted.

We bought these from an architectural salvage company in Islington where they had bought it from a house sale where it had originally lived in the foyer of a house in Hampstead, one of the more affluent parts of London. It is a big piece – it would perhaps be suited to a large lobby or foyer. Being bronze it could also live outside. As such it would be of particular interest to interior designers. The pair are offered in perfect condition and ready for whatever use you have planned for them.
