CHINESE TANG BRONZE ELEPHANT & BOY CASTING ELEPHANTS

CHINESE TANG BRONZE ELEPHANT & BOY CASTING ELEPHANTS

You are viewing a fabulous hollow bronze casting of an elephant with a small boy sitting on top. The piece is very characterful and fun, as the small boy appears to be laughing his head off and the elephant blowing his trunk. Perhaps they are in a race of some sort?

It would make for a great decorative item for your home and would particularly appeal to collectors of Eastern objects of art and rarities. We cannot find a signature on the piece. It is offered in perfect condition and has a wonderful patina to it.

The piece is Tang in style due to the intricate patterns etched and painted in gold on the surface of the brown bronze depicting at times Chinese symbols and patterns, some almost Celtic in style. This is hand painted so you can imagine the level of craftmanship that has gone into this particular piece, not to say the time taken – please see close up picture. Overall the patina to the bronze has a lovely dark brown to it.

The Tang dynasty saw a tremendous cultural flowering. Tang institutions and culture were adopted and imitated in Korea and Japan, while Tang culture benefited from the cosmopolitan influences of the far-flung empire. Chinese Buddhism reached its highpoint under the early Tang, with the celebrated pilgrim Xuanzang bringing back Buddhist sutras from India in the mid-7th century; Islam, Manichaeism, and even Judaism were also represented in Tang China. Tang Buddhist missionaries were immensely important to the spread of the religion in Japan and Korea.

Being bronze this will last forever without rusting and hence is a great investment as it will always appreciate in value. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at they can also become heirlooms.

Bronze is any of several alloys consisting mainly of copper and tin. Neither ancient nor modern bronzes consist only of these two metals. Zinc, lead, and silver were added to bronze alloys by Greek and Roman founders for use in tools, weapons, coins, and objects of art. Zinc, lead, and other metals are occasionally present in modern bronze.

Bronze Cast Stag Sculpture Elk Moose Stags

Bronze Cast Stag Sculpture Elk Moose Stags

You are viewing a wonderful bronze sculpture of a stag depicted standing on a rocky outcrop. The stag looks majestic in its proud pose as it stands head raised looking out. The attention to detail is amazing and the way the artist has captured the muscletone and proportions of the creation is impressive.

The patina of the bronze has a lovely nutty brown in places leading to a darker chocolate tone elsewhere. We cannot find a signature on the piece but believe it to be by a talented artist. The stags antlers are also beautiful and are his pride a joy, especially when used as part of the mating ritual to defend his territory as part of the seasons rutting.

Thousands of visitors travel to Montana and Wyoming every year to enjoy the majestic landscapes and wildlife in Yellowstone National Park, and to try to grab a glimpse of the Montana stag, as depicted here.

Being bronze this will last forever without rusting and hence is a great investment as it will always appreciate in value. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at they can also become heirlooms.

English Bronze Labrador Dog Statue Labs Dogs

English Bronze Labrador Dog Statue Labs Dogs

You are viewing and absolutely lovely English bronze sculpture of a labrador retriever dog. The dog is almost lifesize and is depicted sitting attentively and patiently as labradors are reknowned for.

We cannot find a signature on the piece but believe it to be by an artist of merit due to the manner in which the musceltone has been captured, plus the small details like the etched hairs of the dog. Its a gorgeous piece and perfect for all dog owners, especially Labrador owners everywhere. The patina to the bronze is a lovely nutty brown.

It is on a bronze base and is thus self-standing, it could live outside (perhaps with the base concreted down) as a gate post or guard dog outside. It will not rust as it is bronze.

The Labrador Retriever is a breed of sporting dog, originally trained to discover and fetch killed or wounded game, principally aquatic birds or pheasants. The breed originated in Newfoundland, Canada, and was imported into England early in the 19th century.

Being bronze this will last forever without rusting and hence is a great investment as it will always appreciate in value. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at they can also become heirlooms.

4 ft French Bronze Horse Huntsman Bronze Hunt

You are viewing an impressive bronze casting depciting an French huntsman on his horse. The huntsman has on a traditional hat and is holding a bugle in his right hand. He is probably a turn of the century (18th) fox hunter and would make for an unusual decorative piece for your home. He sits astride his horse which is depicted in a cantour. The artist has really caught the horse with great skill – especially when you look at details like the musceltone and proportions. The ground is also very detailed with branches and tree stumps. The patina to the bronze is a mix between dark brown and a lighter brown and this is offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away. The making of bronzes is a complicated process and this can lead to the high cost of some bronzes but it is something to be appreciated and as an item will retain its value.
