Pair Bronze Art Deco Greyhound Dogs Grey Hounds Statue

You are viewing a fantastic pair of bronze art deco style greyhounds sitting on a bronze base. The quality to the pair is amazing as I hope the photos adequately convey.

It’s a real unusual piece full of character and would look outstanding in the hallway as part of an eclectic and open minded interiors scheme. The bronze has a lovely dark brown nutty patina to it and we were very excited coming across this at the Newark Antique fair.

The stance of the dog really attracted us too with his cocked ears and attentive pose. You can see from the side pictures too the minimal style in which the artist has captured the angularity of the dog in an almost art deco style.

Being bronze this will last forever without rusting and hence is a great investment as it will always appreciate in value. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at they can also become heirlooms.

Bronze is any of several alloys consisting mainly of copper and tin. Neither ancient nor modern bronzes consist only of these two metals. Zinc, lead, and silver were added to bronze alloys by Greek and Roman founders for use in tools, weapons, coins, and objects of art. Zinc, lead, and other metals are occasionally present in modern bronze.

It’s a large piece at three feet high. The eagle has been caught in a dramatic pose as he looks as if he is about to take off – wings held up on the verge of being outstretched and his beak open, head cocked to one side.

You are viewing an amazing brown bronze bust showing a male head who\’s hair fans out at the back into a wing. In tune with the art deco pre-occupation with aerodynanism and its particular take on perceptions of modernity, the figure looks like he could be in a wind tunnel. The piece is the epitome of art deco style and elegance and would make a great addition to any home collection.

It reminds me of a mascot you might find on the front of a car, like Sykes’s famous Silver Spirit found on Rolls Royce’s hoods. It would make for a really quirky decorative collectors piece for your home.
