French Mene Bronze Hunter Dog Bloodhound Figurine

 

You are viewing a wonderful bronze casting showing a man walking his dog. The piece is by PJ Mene. Pierre Jules Mene (1810-1877) was the most prolific animal sculptor of his time and worked in Paris, France. He was famous for his naturalistic representations of all creatures from the animal kingdom, particularly with horses as can be seen here. The signature Mene can be seen on the base (please see close up). This is a later recasting from the original.

Mene has really caught the beauty and poise to the scene with great skill. Check out details like the muscletone to the dog and the way the mans clothes have been rendered, not to mention his facial expression. The patina is fantastic and this sits on an oval marble base. It is offered in great condition, ready for home use right away and we will ship to anywhere in the world.

You are viewing a wonderful French art deco style Bronze figurine dancer girl. I hope the photos do this stunning piece some justice, it’s certainly more impressive in the flesh and would make a great addition to any home collection.

The piece is signed Descomps on the base and this is a later recasting from the original.

The female is in typical 1920s dress – somehow she manages to embody the deco aesthetic with her carefree pose and flapping dress. The bronze is offered in great shape and we will ship to anywhere in the world. We bought this from Les Puces flea market whilst on a recent French buying trip to Paris.

This piece is based in the US where we will ship from. You are viewing a gorgeous art deco lamp. This is a later casting from the original and is offered in great condition. I hope the photos do this stunning piece some justice, it’s certainly better in the flesh.

I hope you agree how it somehow epitomises the art deco aesthetic, as the girl drapes herself seductively over the light box with drapes. She wears a characteristic 20s hat as he head is cocked to one side. She stands on the tired base, another deco motif.

This really is a stylish collectable piece and in the right location this would be the talking point of any collection. This is a light and is wired for use in the US – it lets out a really atmospheric glow from the light box. I’ve shown some examples of how it looks in the pictures. It even has two settings for different lighting. I have also included numerous close up shots to illustrate the amazing detail to the casting, things like her hands and face.

The casting is incredible, check out details like the close ups of the hands and feet and how intricate they are. This is offered in perfect condition and we will ship to anywhere in the world.

You are viewing a spectacular art deco bronze sculpture of a lady and two borzoi dogs. The piece is signed Poertzel on the base. Poertzel was born at Scheibe on 24th October 1876, he became one of the most prominent art deco sculptors and this, the ‘Aristocrats’ is one of his most famous works. This would be a later casting from the original with some age.

The scene somehow embodies the 1920s style aesthetic as the tall, elegant women with a Native American look takes the two borzoi hounds for a walk. The symmetry is wonderful as the sleek dogs somehow echo the lithe women, her dress fanning. The piece has been cast from different coloured bronze to dazzling affect and the patina is wonderful.

We’ve taken various close up photos so we can show you the quality of the casting – in particular on parts like her hands, face, the dogs paws and coat. Amazing. Forget cheap Asian copies this is the real deal.

She stands on the marble base which has been cut from various different coloured stones with a tiered affect. The marble is smooth and has been polished so is offered chip and flake free. This has a museum like quality to it. It is very heavy. Please also note this is based in the US where we will ship from so quotes will be from there. We bought this from a dealer in Les Halles Paris whilst on a recent French buying trip.

You are viewing a gorgeous art deco bronze figurine of the famous Semiramis figure. The piece is signed Preiss on the back of the sculpture – please see close up photo.

Preiss (born in Germany 1882) was a famous sculpturist in the 1920s who studied in Paris and worked in Berlin with Poertzel. He was famed for his classic deco studies of the female form and this is one of his most famous works. This is a later recasting from the original. It’s a classic art deco piece and the proportions to the female and the quality to the casting are amazing. This really would be the centre piece to any collection.
