Please note these are faux cannons – they do not work, they are simply a decorative pair. You are viewing a wonderful pair of French cannons cast from the finest bronze and mounted on wooden fixtures. I hope the photos do this stunning pair some justice, they are certainly more impressive in the flesh.

We haven’t actually tested them to see if they are working, but sure they would make a great decorative piece! There is some intricate casting on the barrel. They are a great architectural pair and would look stunning in a garden or on a terrace.

French Mene Bronze Hunter Dog Bloodhound Figurine

 

You are viewing a wonderful bronze casting showing a man walking his dog. The piece is by PJ Mene. Pierre Jules Mene (1810-1877) was the most prolific animal sculptor of his time and worked in Paris, France. He was famous for his naturalistic representations of all creatures from the animal kingdom, particularly with horses as can be seen here. The signature Mene can be seen on the base (please see close up). This is a later recasting from the original.

Mene has really caught the beauty and poise to the scene with great skill. Check out details like the muscletone to the dog and the way the mans clothes have been rendered, not to mention his facial expression. The patina is fantastic and this sits on an oval marble base. It is offered in great condition, ready for home use right away and we will ship to anywhere in the world.
