The piece is the height of style, elegance and workmanship and is offered in perfect condition, ready for home use right away. As illustrated here, the Boulle style is best known for the type of inlay, consisting of a veneer of red and black faux tortoiseshell inlaid with brass or other attractive metals. The amount of time and levels of craftsmanship that goes into something like this is breathtaking, especially when you imagine how each individual shape to the brass has to be cut out and then embedded into the main structure of the desk.

The desk has three drawers to one side so would be perfect for your home or small office. The piece is so elegant it can also work on its own as more of a decorative piece too. We bought this at an auction house in near Versaille, whilst on a buying trip in France. Pieces of this quality are rare so we are expecting a lot of interest.

This piece is a model of a desk that was given to the President of the United States by the Queen of England in 1855 – please see the commorative plaque that is located at the back of the desk and you can get a history of the piece. You can blow the picture up and read the interesting inscription.

The desk is beautiful – you can see how intricate the hand carved details are including the large eagle with the shield, snake, leaves and arrows to the back panel in the knee hole. The back panel opens out. Then there are the host of other intricate designs weaved into the desk, including rosettes, leaves, flowers, scrolls, swags and other emblems.

You are viewing a wonderful flame mahogany partners desk with a brown tooled hide leather top. The piece is roughly in the Chippendale style which would have been dated 18th Century and this can be seen with features like the canted corners.

The piece is very solid and comfortable and would make for a great desk for your home or office (or home office). The work surface is large and can accomodate lap tops and books as well as being comfortable to write on. To the front are the nine drawers so there is ample storage space. It\’s a true partners desk so there is storage on both sides. The piece has lovely brass handles and fixtures.

It is the ultimate in craftmanship and this piece will last for generations hence making it a great heirloom. It is offered in perfect condition ready for use right away. The desk has been repolished so the grains to the flame mahogany have really come out
