Joe Descomps Beauty of Paris Art Deco Figurine Cape Girl

 

You are viewing a gorgeous French silvered bronze art deco statue by the French sculptor Joe Descamps (1869 – 1950). This piece is named ‘Beauty of Paris’ – it has also been referred to as ‘Cape Girl’. I hope the photos go some way in conveying the beauty to this piece, it’s certainly better in the flesh. The casting is of the highest quality and this original work of art would surely be the talking point of any interiors scheme. This is a later recasting from the original and it is based in the US where we will ship from, good news for US buyers.

The piece shows a nude female kneeling with a flower encrusted drape over her shoulder. Her hair is pulled back tightly in typical 1920s style. Descomps has really caught the beauty and form to the female with amazing style, her figure somehow emobodies the art deco aesthetic with her beauty and aerodynamism. I have included a close up photo of the artists signature which is on the base of the shadow. There is also a close up photo of the foundry mark on the other side, marked ‘R.Patrouillfa..Edit_Paris’.

The piece is solid and heavy and sits squarely on a black marble base. Hopefully the photos convey the quality of the piece. She is offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away. We bought her from a dealer in Les Halles, Paris whilst on a recent French buying trip. This is based in the US were we have an outlet so we would ship from North America – good news for our American friends but we will of course ship to Europe and the rest of the world..

This piece is based in the US where we will ship from. You are viewing a gorgeous art deco lamp. This is a later casting from the original and is offered in great condition. I hope the photos do this stunning piece some justice, it’s certainly better in the flesh.

I hope you agree how it somehow epitomises the art deco aesthetic, as the girl drapes herself seductively over the light box with drapes. She wears a characteristic 20s hat as he head is cocked to one side. She stands on the tired base, another deco motif.

This really is a stylish collectable piece and in the right location this would be the talking point of any collection. This is a light and is wired for use in the US – it lets out a really atmospheric glow from the light box. I’ve shown some examples of how it looks in the pictures. It even has two settings for different lighting. I have also included numerous close up shots to illustrate the amazing detail to the casting, things like her hands and face.

The casting is incredible, check out details like the close ups of the hands and feet and how intricate they are. This is offered in perfect condition and we will ship to anywhere in the world.

You are viewing an amazing silvered bronze art deco figurine in the shape of a hoop girl. The piece stands firmly on a black marble base and somehow manages to capture the 1920s deco aesthetic.

The piece is just over one foot tall and is a classic example of art deco. The lady is naked as she stands back with leg outstretched as she pulls on the large hoop. This would make for a great addition to any collection.

She is offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away. The black marble base is also chip and flake free. We were lucky enough to buy her one morning at Les Puces flea market in Paris.
