4 FT BRONZE ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SPIRIT SKYES SCULPTURE
You are viewing an amazing bronze casting of a four foot tall Spirt of Ecstacy, the famous Rolls Royce emblem that sits on the bonnet (or trunk for our American cousins). The piece was originally by Charles Sykes and this is a recast from the original. Like every good work of art there is a great story behind its making (see below). The piece is offered in perfect condition and ready for home use right away and would make a great collectors piece for any collector. She sits firmly on the black marble base which is smooth and chip and flake free. The silvered bronze has a lovely finish and I hope the photos do it some justice. This is certainly the most attractive and probably the best known motor car mascot in the world. Designed by Charles Robinson Sykes, she has adorned the radiators of Rolls-Royce motor cars since 1911 and concealed a hidden passion. This marvellous mascot was modelled after a woman who had bewitching beauty, intellect and esprit – but not the social status which might have permitted her to marry the man with whom she had fallen in love. This is the story of Eleanor Velasco Thornton, whose liaison with JohnWalter Edward-Scott-Montagu (after 1905 the second Lord Montagu of Beaulieu) was to remain a secret for a decade or more, principally because both partners acted with the utmost discretion. John Scott, heir to his father’s title, was a pioneer of automobilism in England. From 1902 he was editor of the illustrated magazine The Car. Eleanor V Thornton was employed as his secretary. Friends of the pair knew of their close relationship but they were sufficiently understanding as to overlook it.

The piece sits squarely on a black marble base and is offered in perfect condition ready for home use right away. The jockey is shown in full outfit as he takes his horse for a trot by the reigns. Bronze Stag Animal Sculpture Casting Stags
You are viewing a gorgeous bronze casting of a Scottish stag. The piece has been cast from the finest dark brown bronze which has a lovely nutty brown patina. It would make for a great decorative item for your home and is offered as it is in perfect condition.
You can just imagine this creature emerging from a misty wood in the Scottish Highlands such is the quality of this sculpture. The artist has really caught the beauty and poise of the beast with great skill. We bought this from a dealers in Cumbria whilst on a buying trip in the North West.
Stag (mammal), hoofed mammal found in Europe, Asia, and North America. It is 1.2 m (4 ft) at the shoulder, with a red-brown coat and a short tail. The male’s branched antlers have at least ten tines and are shed annually; females lack antlers. The males live alone or in casual groups, but the females and their offspring live in highly organized herds. Their habitat is variable, including woodland, grassland, and moors. They eat a range of vegetation, such as grasses, tree bark, and tree and shrub shoots. During breeding season, from early September to mid-October, a male attaches itself to a group of females and spend its days circling them to ward off rivals. Any fighting between rival males is known as rutting. The female usually bears a single fawn, and calves stay with their mothers for two to three years.
Being bronze this will last forever without rusting and hence is a great investment as it will always appreciate in value. Aside from being aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at they can also become heirlooms.
