Italian Baroque Bronze Lions Head Wall Fountain
You are viewing a fantastic brown bronze Italian baroque wall fountain with the distinctive lions head cast into the back panel. Below this is the large water basin where the spurting water would gather. The details to the casting are exquisite as I hope the photos illustrate.

FRENCH EMPIRE ORMOLU MARBLE CANDELABRAS CANDLE STICKS
You are viewing an incredible pair of French empire ormolu candle sticks standing firmly on a square Italian marble base. The pieces are in the empire style and the ornate workmanship to these works of art is astounding.
PAIR BRONZE LIGHTS SIGNED GREGOIRE STATUE LIBERTY TORCHERES LAMP
The pair are signed L Gregoire on the base near the foot (please see close up picture). Jean Louis Gregoire was a famous French sculptor who lived 1840-1890 and these have to be one of his famous works. Each figure holds aloft the frosted crystal glass flames from which the light emits. They come pre-wired so it would be easy to hook these up to a light source.
Chryséléphantine est le processus par lequel un amalgame de bronze et d’ivoire est sculpté et doré dans une sculpture. Des artistes comme Chiparus, Ferdinand Preiss, Paul Philippe, Descomps et Lorenzl souvent utilisé cette technique dans leurs œuvres.
Pierre Jules Mène (1810-1877) fut le sculpteur animalier le plus prolifique français de son temps et travaille à Paris, France. Il était célèbre pour ses représentations naturalistes de toutes les créatures du règne animal, en particulier avec les chevaux. Il était également célèbre pour la coulée des chiens et il exposa au Salon en 1838.
Ferdiand Preiss est un célèbre sculpturist allemand qui a étudié à Paris et travaille à Berlin. Il a étudié avec un autre artiste célèbre l’art déco, Poertzel.
Preiss a travaillé avec l’ivoire et utilisé ce matériel en combinaison avec le bronze avec une grande efficacité. Il était célèbre pour les modèles des enfants et la forme féminine. Ses œuvres ont le monogramme PK en relief dans le bronze, ce qui montre que le chiffre a été produit par la firme de Preiss et Kassler
