You are viewing a gorgeous pair of German porcelain urns with pate sur pate designs in relief in the Meissen manner. Pate sur pate is the unique process whereby the designs and images in white have been applied in a thick white type of porcelain in relief – you can actually feel the bumps of the classical figures and other designs on the surfaces.
I hope the photos do this stunning pair some justice, they are certainly more impressive in the flesh and would make for a wonderful addition to any home interiors scheme. The light blue colour is gorgeous, offset by the dark blue of the oval panels and the interlaced white and gold colours. Truly regal. The main panel shows a design from Greek mythology with cherubs. The urns sit on the pedestal bases and also have lids that come off.
