The chest gets its name from Duke of Wellington as he took this model of chest on battles with him in the last 18th Century which is why it is also referred to as a campaign desk. For modern day purposes this piece makes for a great space saver as it is both a chest and a small desk with the secretaire piece.

The secretaire is the fold out section with the leather topped writing surface and the mini drawers and cubby holes. This is were Wellington wrote his dispatches and you can probably just about fit a lap top.
